Sweet Home Chicago

After 3 hours of sleep on Tuesday night I began my return journey to Chicago where Alex was staying with our friends. Despite being absolutely exhausted I was determined to make the most of our stay in the windy city. It is after all, the city where we first said "I love you."
We've been to Chicago on many occasions and thought we'd try something other than the traditional Museum/Aquarium/Sears Tower fare. So, we first went to the Wicker Park area (a neighborhood we would consider living in) and ate at Piece, an awesome pizza joint with great food, beer and music. The chevre and olive pizza was phenomenal!

Alex then suggested we do a little window shopping in the very hipster neighborhood (think tight jeans, faux-hawks, and big sunglasses). We stopped into a hat store and Alex immediately fell in love with one of their hats.
And then he insisted I try on some hats and that I buy one as well (what a sweet husband!)

This afternoon was interview #5 at the Jesse Brown VA in downtown Chicago. I really enjoyed meeting with the psychologists and interns, and was extremely impressed with all of the rotations they had to offer-most notably the OIF/OEF Outreach team. The VA hospital is smaller than the other ones I have interviewed at, though was by no means a "small" VA.
The inside is particularly nice...
And the outside isn't so bad either.

So now Alex and I are in St. Louis, having left directly after my Chicago interview. The St. Louis interview starts at 8:30am and will go until 2, at which point we're going to drive home. It will be nice to spend a couple of nights in my own bed before flying out to Washington, D.C.
Now to collapse into a deep sleep...
